What does it mean to shift? It means to move or transfer from one place and/or position to another. Now, focus on the word position. Position means a place where someone or something is located or has been put. In this event, God is shifting you from where you are now to the next place He has in store for you.
God is strategic in everything He does. He knows exactly where you’re going and He knows exactly how to get you there. Life is a process that conditions us. It shapes our abiltity to withstand the pressures all around us as well as the pressures we deal with in our minds. Often times, we don’t realize that we deal with hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, famines and earthquakes in the spirit, not just in the natural. Trials can be very hard when going through them. It can leave you wounded, broken, distorted, confused, rejected, misunderstood, and even abandoned.
Trials are not from God but He uses the trials to make us stronger. He uses the trials to teach us that we can recover from anything because we are more than conquerors. He uses the trials to show us that He can heal our broken hearts and our wounded spirits. He uses the trials to show us that even though people may reject and abandon us, He will accept us and He will take us as His own. He uses the trials to show us that GREATER is He that is in me than he that is in the World.
God is shifting you into your next season. Some of you are trying to hold on to what is familiar to you. You are holding on to what was given to you last season and it’s now time for you to let it go. In Exodus Chapter 16, we read that Moses gave the command to the Israelites to not “keep” the quail or manna overnight, which some of them did anyway, because it would spoil. The same thing applies to us when we try to hold on to the things God has told us to let go of. Just like the quail and manna’s purpose was to sustain them for a specific time/season, so does the things God gives us is also for a time/season. Whether it be relationships, material things, job, etc. Once you hold onto it longer than the expiration date, you will experience that very thing go bad or spoil.
You don’t want to live your life in a stagnate state. You are equipped to produce, to grow and to move forward consistently throughout your life’s journey. Shifting is God’s way of moving you out of the last season to the next. He’s making sure you follow the timetable He has set for you in fulfilling your destiny. When we are not sensitive to the move of God, we miss out on the new things of God.
What is sifting? It means to examine and sort carefully. To put through a straining device in order to seperate the fine from the coarse particles. A particle is a very small piece or part; a tiny portion or speck. When a person bakes a cake, one of the things they do is sift the flour. In sifting the flour, they are removing the lumps in order to produce fine flour that is of one consistency, which produces a better result. What is coarse in your life? Is it your character, is it your integrity, is it how you treat others, or is it how you treat yourself? So, God is saying that He is examining us carefully. He is removing all of the lumps in our character, heart and spirit that can potentially ruin the end result that God has in store for us.
We must not fear the things that are happening to us and around us because it is all working out for our own good. You may not understand what is going on in your life and you may not have the answers but trust the One that does. God said that He will NEVER leave you nor forsake you. No matter how hard it gets, God is always going to be there with you. It may not feel like He’s there but He is. This great shifting and sifting process that we are all in is very necessary. It is meant to produce a perfect work in you. Don’t fight it, don’t resist it, instead, embrace it and watch your life soar! Be blessed!
